Ten fire engines rushed to a fire involving a barn conversion and warehouse barn.
The fire happened last night at around 11.43pm in Lower Dunton Road, Basildon.
When firefighters arrived they reported the roof void of the attached buildings, which measures approximately 20m x 40m, was completely alight.
The initial officer in charge requested a total of six fire engines and a Water Bowser (fire engine with large tank of water), ALP (aerial ladder platform - a fire engine with a ladder tower used to pour water on fires from above) and a Hose Layer (fire engine with extra, high-powered hoses used to pump water from the hydrant to the fire).
The crew extinguished the flames at 2am and they remained at the scene to dampen remaining hotspots.
Essex Fire Service has not confirmed whether the blaze is deliberate or an accident. An investigation is taking place to find out the cause.
The incident is ongoing, there will be more updates soon.
