The man who died at the Golden Lane level crossing in Stanford-le-Hope has been named.
Sergio Romero, 21, of Mabley Street in Hackney, was reported to have "laid across the tracks" at the crossing where he was later hit by a passing train, a coroners officer told the Echo.
A post mortem into Sergio's death found that he had died from multiple injuries.
British Transport Police were called at 3.34pm to Golden Lane level crossing in Stanford le Hope on Tuesday, January 30, to reports that a person had been struck by a train.
Officers and ambulance service attended but sadly Sergio died at the scene.
British Transport Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
The incident caused delays on the C2C line between Upminster and Pitsea.
A full inquest into his death will be held on June 12 at 10am.
