Year eight students from Kings John School took part in a charity fun run to raise money for Make a Wish Foundation.
The event, which took place on Friday at the school in Shipwrights Drive, Benfleet, was organised by year 12 student Nicole Rutter as part of her P.E. course work. The event raised almost £1,300.
Nicole, 16, worked with a fellow students to put together this event which had year eight students, 360 of them, running for charity.
She said: “We raised a total of £1,289.59. It was the year eight students who decided to donate to Make a Wish Foundation.
“They had to run three laps around the Kings John school field. Students had the choice to either walk or run.
“This was part of our P.E. course work. We were asked to create a fundraiser to raise money for a charity.
“The minimum donation was a pound each from students. It was a really worthy project because we’re able to help out others. I’m really proud of all the students.”
