OHM From Ohm is a tour showcasing four of the UK's "most exciting" electronic acts, and it's coming to Southend.

The Frixion, Rodney Cromwell, Nature of Wires and Vieon will be stopping at the Railway Hotel on the final night of the tour, for a "quadruple headliner" set of performances, on Saturday May 12.

Lloyd Price of the Frixion, is no stranger to the music pub in Clifftown Road.

He played there a few years back with Martin Degville as one half of a stripped back Sigue Sigue Sputnik.

"The Frixion are a relatively new project for me" he added. "It was originally just a side project while I was playing with another band but it became my main focus and I decided I needed to find a way to introduce it to a wider audience.

"I called upon friends in other electronic bands, Rodney Cromwell and Nature of Wires (who had established followings, bit cheeky!) and asked if they'd like to get involved in a tour of England.

"Luckily they said yes and the Ohm From Ohm tour was born. We always had a fourth band in mind to be on the tour so we asked Vieon to get involved."

The bands are from all over the country, but plan to hit the road convoy style after playing at their first venue at The Actress and Bishop in Birmingham on Thursday March 15.

"We did choose wisely over locations. Some of the other guys have toured extensively and know the places that work best for the kind of thing we do" said Lloyd, talking about how the electronic scene is perhaps better represented in some areas than others. "We've aimed for Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, London, Coventry and dear old Southend because we feel positive that people will be receptive to what we're going to be doing. When I played with Martin of Sigue Sigue Sputnik, we had a particularly fun night in Southend! That was the reason I wanted to bring the tour here. The reception was amazing last time and I'm hoping people will get behind what we do this time round.

"I think attitudes have changed a lot over the last 20 years. Electronic music is everywhere these days. With acts like the Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy and Depeche Mode, electronic music has gained a lot of respect. Obviously it's a completely different beast from from guys with guitars and drums, but it still requires a lot of talent.

"There is still no 'magic button' that writes a track for you. Just look at what Kraftwerk have done, those guys just got a Grammy so I think people are more receptive now more than ever to electronic music."

Tickets for the night at the Railway Hotel, Southend, are £5 in advance from wegottickets.com or £6 on the door.
