MARC-Antoine Fortune feels Southend United ‘owe Rotherham one’ at Roots Hall tomorrow.

The Shrimpers suffered a humiliating 5--0 defeat against the Millers in August. And Fortune is keen to help Blues get their own back at Roots Hall this weekend.

“That game was our second of the season and came after our good win against Blackburn so it was difficult to take,” said Fortune.

“I don’t think it’s a case of trying to get revenge now but we do feel like we owe them one.”

Fortune will also be heading into the game on a high after netting Southend’s goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Blackpool.

And the 36-year-old Frenchman was pleased to get back on the score-sheet.

“First of all I want to help the team but scoring goals is always nice so I was pleased to get one at Blackpool,” said Fortune.

“It was a shame it couldn’t win us the game but it was a difficult game in the conditions and we worked hard to get a point.

“But we want to try and get all three on Saturday now.”

The Shrimpers - who sit 13th in the League One standings - have now been held to three draws in succession. However, Fortune is keen to remain positive and is thrilled to be back in the team.

“I started the first three games under the new manager and I’m happy to be back in again,” said Fortune.

“I’m always pleased to be on the pitch and I’m happy the manager has trust in me to play so I want to repay that and I think we’ve done well.”

And Fortune is keen to keep on impressing as he looks to win a new deal.

“I’m really happy at Southend,” said Fortune whose current contract expires at the end of the season.

“If the club and manager want to keep it going then I would be comfortable talking about it.”
