Hundreds of Beatrix Potter fans enjoyed a special springtime event at Eastgate shopping centre featuring four characters inspired by the author’s famous tales.

Children met Jemima Puddle-Duck, Peter Rabbit, Mr Tod the fox and the lovely Mrs Tiggy-Winkle at the event.

The characters were created by Q20 Theatre for the Bradford Literature Festival 2016 and children go see them and pose for pictures for free.

There was also a pop-up farm with lots of baby animals including some bottle-fed lambs, a Nubian goat and her tiny kids, some Dutch rabbits, baby guinea pigs and lots of chicks to see.

Adding to the day’s fun was a Beatrix Potter themed craft workshop where children decorated rabbits, ducks and cartoon carrots

Eastgate shopping centre manager Ian Clark said: “It was wonderful to host Mr Rabbit, Mrs Puddle-Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Mr Tod at Eastgate – everyone enjoyed meeting the characters.

“It was great to see some of the creative animal characters that youngsters made in the craft workshop too.

“Shoppers of all ages really enjoyed seeing the tiny kid goats, chicks and lambs in the pop-up farm too.”

Next week, youngsters can meet PAW Patrol heroes Skye and Rubble on Thursday, April 12.
