AN MP has visited a Leigh school in recognition of the progress it has made.
Sir David Amess visited students and staff at Eastwood Academy, in Rayleigh Road, to chat with staff and pupils.
The school has just been given a “good” rating by Ofsted and is on course to achieve “outstanding” next time inspectors visit.
The MP for Southend West said he was highly impressed when he was shown around the school to see pupils of all years hard at work.
Sir David was joined by councillor Chris Walker and school governor Kevin Buck who were equally as impressed by the high standards.
Sir David said: “The Eastwood Academy is an outstanding school as its recent Ofsted demonstrated.
“I was delighted to visit to school with local councillor and former mayor Chris Walker and governor Kevin Buck. “We met staff and pupils and discussed a whole range of subjects.”
