Renaissance Southend? Who's in charge? The Borgias?
Most people would define improving things as making them better, but in Southend Council's dictionary improvement means denigration and destruction.
Renaissance is a French word that in English means rebirth. In Southend, rebirth is a Frankenstein monster of ghastly characterless, modern monstrosities rising up.
Wonder where that small patch of parkland at the top of the High Street went to? The Odeon's sitting on top of it. The choicest irony of all is Southend winning a gardening exhibition award while simultaneously doing its best to eliminate as much greenery as possible.
