I have been unfortunate enough to live in Hovefields Drive, Wickford, for the past eight years and during that time, an invasion of travellers has caused nothing but problems, with sheer disregard for the settled community and the law of this country.

Jon Austin has truthfully reported on incidents occurring in this area.

Until this Government sits up and actually does something to change the laws, which are completely inadequate, the taxpayer will continue to foot the bill for continual bombardment of travellers trying to dodge planning laws.

I agree with Basildon Council leader Malcolm Buckley. The council has tried to judge the best course of action to take, which it decided was eviction rather than court injunctions.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I feel the council was between a rock and a hard place and at the time evictions were the correct way to go. The settled residents' quality of life has been non-existent since the arrival of these unwanted visitors and they should be evicted.

The incidents my neighbours and I have suffered would make most people give up or have a breakdown, but I don't have enough room to list them.

If the law in this country was adequate, we would not have to suffer this.

It is immoral, disgusting and downright ridiculous our Government is sitting on the fence doing nothing to help us. For goodness sake, Mr Brown remove these illegal travellers.
