THE weather did little to deter youngsters from Southend Carnival's teddy bears' picnic.
More than 100 toddlers took their teddy bears and other soft toys to Priory Park for the event.
Carnival vice-chairman Alan Jones said: "It all went very well, although we had to take a decision to move indoors into the Prittlewell Priory refectory because of the rain.
"For some of the little ones, having their picnic inside was something of an adventure and they thoroughy enjoyed themselves."
Mum Helena Anderson, 32, of Westcliff, said: "The event was such a joy. Seeing children enjoying themselves so much was great.
"They all enjoyed bringing their teddies along and sharing them with others."
