A STUDENT at King John School has battled through months of ill health to pass her A-levels with flying colours.

Simi Kaur, 18, of Corasway, Thundersley, suffered a series of fits after being struck down with hypoglycaemia, a condition which causes dangerously low blood sugar.

She was too weak to take any exams last summer, forcing her to sit all her AS modules at the start of this year.

Despite the pressure, she rose to the challenge and yesterday secured an ABB in media, law and psychology.

She is now looking forward to taking up her place at Surrey University studying for a degree in psychology, and hopes to eventually complete a Phd.

She said: "Last year I had loads of health problems.

"I kept having fits and couldn't take any of my exams. I ended up doing all my modules in January.

"I was so happy and so relieved, I couldn't believe I had pulled it off.

"I had been feeling pretty low and didn't think I would get the grades to go to university. I had thought about giving up, but I managed to turn it around."
