THE heavenly voices and sound of Rough Trade babies PicaPica can be heard in Southend on Friday June 15, when the band appears at Twenty One as part of their UK summer tour.

If that's not a big enough treat in itself, they will be supported by Southend folk favourite M G Boulter.

PicaPica began when Josienne Clarke and Samantha Whates met on the London acoustic music scene several years back.

The pair kept bumping into each other, and as they shared a love of singing and writing songs, started to collaborate, more often than not providing those very distinctive harmonies they do, for each other's projects.

Eventually they decided to step out as a band, putting together enough material together to release their debut EP, Spring and Shade, on Rough Trade last year, and hooking up with multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Adam Beattie and multiple Grammy, Mercury and MOBO nominated producer, guitarist and bass player Sonny Johns.

The foursome work together like peaches and cream.

Go see and hear for yourself at the culture cafe venue at the bottom of the pier lift, on Pier Approach, Western Esplanade, Southend.

Doors open at 7:30pm.
