THE MP for Southend West has made a visit to a school for children with special educational needs.

Sir David Amess visited the Kingsdown School in Snakes Lane, Southend, with councillors Steve Buckley and David McGlone, in order to meet with some of the school’s students and hear more about some of the new initiatives they had been putting into practice.

Sir David took the opportunity to learn about how the school, which caters for children aged three to fourteen with a range of special needs, had committed itself to its mission statement of ‘be happy, communicate, learn, and achieve’.

During his visit he commended the school for its dedication to making education available to pupils with particular needs.

The school joined forces with three other special schools in 2017 in order to create the SEN Trust Southend.
