TWO people were forced to flee their home after a fire broke out in a bungalow last night.
Firefighters from Rayleigh Weir and Hawkwell attended the incident in Southview Road, Hockley after the occupants had been alerted by a smoke alarm.
On arrival, crews reported that a fire was burning at the rear of the property, which measures approximately eight square metres.
The fire was first reported at around 11.50pm.
Firefighters worked hard to extinguish the fire by 0.37am, but the home has suffered severe smoke damage.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault which ignited the decking area in the back garden.
Both occupants escaped the property unharmed.
