FAMILIES enjoyed fun in the sun at a farm open day.

Hamelin Trust, a charity supporting people with disabilities and their carers, opened the doors of Sutton Bridge Farm, Rochford on Wednesday June 20.

The trust opened the farm to the public to help raise awareness of the services offered there.

The five and a half acre site owned by the trust is the base of three of its popular services, all of which were open with staff members ready to answer any questions.

There were tours of Roots and Shoots, the trust’s horticultural project that provides training opportunities and work experience to adults with learning disabilities.

The other two services open were Gowlands, a residential short break service for adults with disabilities, and a Hydrotherapy Pool.

Richard Cock, manager at Roots and Shoots, said: “It was the best day we’ve ever had and have been supported by all the people. We’ve been overwhelmed by their support. We’ve done really well, better than we expected. Thank you to everyone who came along for all your support.”

Hamelin Trust will be having another open day at Sutton Bridge Farm in October, just in time for Halloween!

Visitors can attend the event on Wednesday October 24 to see the farm in the autumn and for a range of seasonal treats.
