A WOMAN and her mother were left feeling violated after a pervert flashed them in the street.

The 23-year-old woman from Basildon, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was walking with her 42-year-old mother when they were confronted by the man on the bridge near Laindon train station.

She said: “At first, we thought nothing of it. We just thought he was going to ask us for directions.

“He then proceeded to tell us he had loads of money and would like to take us to a hotel room. It made me feel very uncomfortable.

“My mum is quite tough but even she didn’t want to risk having a go at him because you never know anymore. He then got out his penis and made some really vulgar comments to us which were graphic and sickening.”

The suspect was described as black, around 5’11’’ with a black Adidas jacket and grey bottoms.

He was riding a grey bike.

The women want to warn others in the community for fear that he will target other people.

She added: “It’s the way he just appeared behind us - almost as if he was waiting for girls to walk across the bridge.

“We’ve heard of a lot of incidents where men are trying to get girls into cars. It’s just so scary.

“I feel like if that was a young girl who was walking alone, he would have definitely tried to grab her.”

The women took to Facebook to try and warn the community of Basildon and was unimpressed with some of the comments which appeared to try and make light of the situation.

The appeal had been shared more than 150 times.

She added: “The worst thing about it all is people making jokes on social media.

“That is a prime example of why women don’t speak out about sexual assault, no matter how minor, because people make jokes about it. If it was their daughters or loved ones, I’m sure they wouldn’t be making jokes as they would not find it funny.”

The incident has been reported to the police and anyone with information should contact Basildon Police on 101. Alternatively, you can share information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
