A CHARITY football match was held in memory of a school girl who took her own life.

The Harriet Nicol Memory Trophy event was held on Sunday July 29 at Basildon Post Office Sport and Social Club, Gardiners Way, Basildon in aid of Mind Basildon.

Harriet Nicol, 16, from Billericay who went to St Martin's School in Brentwood, was found unresponsive at her home in Billericay by family members on Sunday April 23 2017.

The charity event was organised by Reiss Raz and saw £1,854 raised in the teenagers memory. His son went to school with Harriet.

The two teams were Fran F.C. and and Brandon F.C.

There were about 200 people at the event.

Organisers are planning on making it an annual event.

Reiss, 31, from Laindon said: "A lot of businesses donated some amazing raffle prizes such as iPads, a laptop, signed football shirts and much more.

"The game was played in a tough spirit at Basildon Post Office Club.

"The referee even donated his fee to the day.

"There were some tough tackles and some great goals but everyone remembered why we were there and it was because of the tragic loss of such a young beautiful girl

"We had all of our barbeque meat donated by S R Cooper Meats of Laindon."

Harriet, was a pupil at St Martin’s School, in Brentwood. She also went to Billericay’s Fusion Performer Dance and Drama School.
