A WOMAN has been arrested in connection with a murder in London.

The 29-year-old woman from Basildon was arrested on Sunday August 19 in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man.

The man died in Ringstead Road, Catford on Saturday August 18 after officers were called to reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service at around 4am, to find a man suffering from stab injuries.

The man was taken to a south London hospital where he died a short while later at 5.30am.

A post mortem took place on Sunday at Greenwich Mortuary and gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the neck and chest.

The woman arrested in connection with the incident has been transported to a north London police station where she remains in custody.

His next of kin have been informed.

Detectives have preliminarily named the deceased as Leroy Junior Edwards, 66, from Lewisham.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation and are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to call police.

DCI Simon Pickford, who is leading the investigation, said: “Although we have made one arrest already in connection to this murder, we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area that may have heard or seen anything.

“No matter how insignificant you think the information might be, it is all useful to our investigation.”
