Members of Benfleet Rotary Club have celebrated the installation of a community public access defibrillator.

The lifesaving piece of equipment was unveiled at the Shell petrol garage, High Road, Benfleet, yesterday.

David Flood, a community first responder, said: “Thanks goes to the Benfleet First Responders who were instrumental in arranging the supply of the equipment and to Motor Fuels Group for approving the siting of the defibrillator on their premises.”

Motor Fuels Group paid for the installation after the rotary club arranged events to pay for the defibrillator.

Ian Smith, the club president last year, chose to buy and position this defibrillator for the benefit of the community from money raised by the club during the year.
