AN old fire station has opened its doors over the bank holiday weekend for children and parents across Hadleigh to enjoy.
The former fire station, in High Street, was open from Friday to this afternoon sowhere artists from the Hadleigh Arts and Community Hub could showed off their work to visitors.
Children and parents were able to meet with the artists and discuss their workartpieces, as well as taking part in a range of artist-led workshops, circus skills and taster sessions.
The open weekend has been supported by Essex County Council’s ‘Culture in Essex’ small grant scheme, which has see a variety of events take place, with others and still in the pipelinescheduled to take place.
The events include, a pop-up cinema, community choir, and artist-led workshops, as well as jazz and local history sessions.
Hadleigh Old Fire Station aArtist and event director Sue Willis said: “Hadleigh Old Fire Station has become a real community hub and our open weekend was a great opportunity to showcase all the fantastic things that happen here.
“We’re hoping to inspire everyone to get involved in something and there was definitely plenty going on.”
Sue Lissimore, the county council’s member for culture and communities, added: “I’m pleased we have been able to support such an exciting weekend of events and would encourage everyone to head over and get involved.”
