OFFICERS on Canvey have stepped up their patrols, leading to a man and a woman being arrested for theft and drug offences.

Over the past fortnight increased patrols have been carried out by officers on the island, which have lead to two arrests.

The arrests were carried out by Sgt Ben Preston, from the Castle Point and Rochford Local Policing Team and his team from B shift, alongside the Community Policing Team and members of the Special Constabulary and Force Support Unit.

A spokesman for the Castle Point and Rochford Local Policing Team, said: "This pro-active work has resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old male for theft of motor vehicle and possession of class A and class B drugs.

"A 21-year-old female was also arrested for drugs offences, both have been released under investigation whilst further investigation is carried out.

"In addition, two juveniles were dealt with at the second warrant for possession of a class B drug."
