A man fled his attacker after he was assaulted in the middle of the street.
The man was reportedly attacked in Tylers Avenue, Southend at around 6.30pm on Wednesday August 29.
Described as being in his 40s or 50s, the victim has not come forward to police with information following the attack.
Police are on the search to trace him.
A description released by Essex Police said the victim is white, about 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and had short grey hair.
He wore a long sleeved dark fleece and dark jeans at the time of the incident.
A 26-year-old man from Chelmsford was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident, and he has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
