A van driver who was arrested after a fatal crash on the A127 has been released under investigation.
The 42-year-old man from Tonbridge in Kent was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after the incident involving himself and a cyclist on the A127 going towards Southend.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene around 100 metres from the Dick Turpin pub.
Staff living upstairs at the pub were horrified when they woke up to find the incident had taken place just before 8am on Sunday.
The road was closed in both directions for the entire morning and part of the afternoon, with officers blocking off all entrances onto the road.
Sadly, the cyclist, a 30-year-old man from Chadwell Heath died at the scene.
