A BRAND new virtual reality centre has opened in Southend - bringing the new world of gaming to the masses.

Pixel Entertainment has opened on Clifftown Road, opposite Southend Central Station.

Director, Nadir Miheisi, 37, says the centre brings the latest in virtual reality equipment to offer the smoothest and most immersive experience possible.

With a racing simulator, casual virtual reality games lasting between ten and 20 minutes, or full length games, the owner insists there is something for everyone at the site.

As well as some of the biggest games in the virtual reality world, Nadir has also began developing his own content, and has recently displayed his work at Southend’s Tech City-on-Sea and the London Games Festival.

Mr Miheisi said: “We are really excited. We opened last Saturday and it has been going well. “We have had plenty of interest, and people coming in to book. What we offer is a space to experience virtual reality and play virtual reality games as well as experiences in a cool environment.

“We have something for everyone, we even had a 70-year-old man come in and try it - and he loved it.”

The centre currently has one racing cockpit, offering a number of racing titles using a virtual reality headset and a steering wheel with pedals and gear-stick.

There are a number of experiences that act as a good introduction to virtual reality, such as being underwater or travelling into outer space, which typically last ten to 20 minutes.

For experienced gamers there are a number of full length games, from first person shooters and adventure games to strategy games and simulations and escape rooms. Full length games can only be played in one of the dedicated game rooms, which can be booked in hourly slots.

The centre has a library of games which change on a monthly basis.
