Saracens will be without summer signing David Strettle when they host newly promoted Bristol Bears on Saturday.

The former Clermont Auvergne centre made his second debut for the reigning Gallagher Premiership champions in last week’s victory against Newcastle Falcons, but misses out on the match against Bristol with a head injury.

Strettle is one of three players unavailable this weekend that featured in the opening round of fixtures with Scotland wing Sean Maitland also sidelined with a dislocated finger.

Mark McCall’s men were rocked this week by the news that Argentina international Juan Figallo and Duncan Taylor will both be out for a substantial period with serious knee injuries.

Prop Figallo injured his posterior cruciate ligament in Saracens’ 32-21 win over Newcastle Falcons last Saturday and will be out of action for four months.

And Sarries will have to wait to find out the severity of Taylor’s anterior cruciate ligament injury that could see the Scotland international out of action for the entire season after the 28-year-old was wounded in the Premiership Rugby Shield.

Despite the growing list of players on the treatment table, there are some positives for Saracens with Tongan international Sione Vailanu set to start his first match after impressing off the bench against Newcastle Falcons last weekend.

England scrum-half Ben Spencer is also back in the starting 15 after recovering from illness, while Nick Isiekwe comes in at lock.

Saracens will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season against a highly rated Bristol Bears side that sunk West Country rivals Bath 17-10 in front of a packed Ashton Gate.

Alapati Leiua scored the winning try ten minutes from time to send the home crowd into raptures and put out a warning message to the rest of the league on their return.

However, Bristol head coach Pat Lam has made eight changes for the clash, with £1 million signing Charles Piutau expected not to feature until October.

Jordan Lay, Piers O’Conor and Lewis Thiede are among the debutants for the opposition in an inexperienced line up set to face the defending champions.

But Saracens will have little to worry about if Alex Lewington can replicate the form that saw the ex-London Irishman score an impressive two tries on debut last week.
