Following the success of last year’s event, the Echo has partnered with the local NHS once again to recognise the good work and good people in our GP surgeries in the Quality Awards 2018.

It is estimated that more than 4,000 appointments take place every day in GP practices across south east Essex.

Most of us never get to hear about the positive stories and the staff that go the extra mile for their patients.

From GPs, nurses, pharmacists and health care assistants on the front lines of health care, to reception staff and vital clerical roles supporting people day-to-day, these awards are open to everyone working in GP Practices that helps make a difference to the health of people in south east Essex.

With rising demands, a growing population and problems recruiting, GP practice staff are feeling the pressure.

In a bid to recognise staff and practices who, despite the on-going pressures, continue to deliver an excellent service to their patients, the local NHS is launching the Quality Awards 2018.

Tricia D’Orsi, chief nurse at Castle Point and Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We hear so many wonderful stories about how staff have gone the extra mile for patients.

“There is outstanding work, care, innovation and services being delivered every day in south east Essex and it is important to focus on the people who have worked so hard and to share best practice with others.

“Last year’s event shone the spotlight on the people who are really making a difference and who have gone that extra mile to set a fine example to others. We look forward to recognising the 2018 winners.”

Last year’s winner of the ‘People’s Choice’ award, which was nominated by the public went to Dr Ana Linacero-Gracia from the Island surgery and the other went to Dr Jack and LD Health Check Team.

Chris Hatton, Echo editor, presented the People’s Choice awards.

He said: “It was a delight to be present at the awards, which shone a light on the outstanding work going on in general practice and across the NHS in general.”

Nominations are now open and you can nominate at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/62L5LWR, at southendccg.nhs.uk and /castlepointandrochfordccg.nhs.uk or at all practices in the area.

All nominations need to be received by the October 5.
