A DEAD deer was found after being caught in the railings of a children's play area.
A park keeper found the Muntjac Deer this morning in Gloucester Park, Basildon.
It is thought it was being chased and became stuck in the railings.
Rob Fletcher, 56, park keeper for Basildon Council was quick to remove the animal before it caused any distress to children.
He said: "It is a shame it died in pain.
"I was in the park collecting litter when a woman reported it to me.
"We do get the deer in the park but they are so shy.
"I had to get it out of the railings and it will be taken away.
"I have been doing this now for about eight years and it is not a very nice part of my job."
He said he believes it was attacked by something after it got stuck in the railings of the children's park.
