A veterinary hospital is supporting events to promote responsible dog owners.

Medivet Southend, in Eastwoodbury Lane, Southend is supporting a series of Southend Sparkle Responsible Dog Owner Days which are running from July to September.

The events are part of this year’s Make Southend Sparkle, an initiative which supports residents, groups and businesses who wish to enhance the area where they live or work.

Gemma Cresswell, area manager at Medivet, said: “Make Southend Sparkle is a great initiative which is making a real difference and giving everybody pride in their town. We are delighted to support it and to be participating in the Responsible Dog Owner Days.

"These events are a great opportunity to meet dog owners and their pets and to discuss how they can keep their canine friends happy and well – while being considerate to non-dog owners and other animals in the town.”

Lesley Salter, councillor for healthy communities and wellbeing, said: “Our Responsible Dog Owner Days, kindly sponsored by Medivet and supported by Southend Council’s dog warden, are an ideal way to encourage owners to look after their dogs responsibly and to help us keep our borough beautiful.”
