The trial date has been pushed back for a woman charged with the murder of her son.
A plea hearing was listed for today at Basildon Crown Court for Christina Acres who is accused of murdering her seven-year-old son George on Monday, July 23.
George Acres died in hospital after he was found unconscious at an address in Rochford.
The post-mortem examination found George died due to “interference with the normal mechanics of breathing, likely through a combination of strangling and/or drowning”.
Acres, 36, of Rochford Garden Way, has been charged with his murder and a provisional trial date was initially set for January 7 at Basildon Crown Court.
However, at a plea and trial preparation hearing held in the same court this morning, the judge indicated the trial may have to be relisted for the following week, January 14.
Acres was not present for the hearing.
Acres has still not entered a plea and there are no scheduled appearances to take place prior to the trial at this stage.
