C&K Basildon Ladies will be looking to pick up their first win of the season when they go head-to-head with bottom side Queens Park Rangers Ladies this weekend.

C&K Basildon, who have picked up one point from their opening five encounters of the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division campaign, will welcome QPR to the Frost Hire Stadium on Sunday.

And although a win has eluded C&K Basildon so far, joint-managers Les Thompson and Luke Pierre will be eager to rack up three points against the team who is currently below their side on goal difference.

C&K Basildon go into their latest clash having been involved in three matches in the space of seven days.

Two of those encounters were away, forcing the team to travel 800 miles and spend 20 hours travelling.

Having picked up a point at then-league leaders Loughborough Foxes, C&K Basildon faced a home game with Gillingham and then a long trip to Plymouth Argyle.

Visitors Gillingham raced into a three-goal lead before the break to give C&K Basildon a mountain to climb going into the second half.

However, the hosts mounted a stirring second half comeback which, with better fortune, could have seen them earn a draw.

Raquel Murray pulled a goal back shortly after the hour mark, before Maddie Thomas was denied by an excellent save when through on goal.

C&K Basildon thought they had won a spot-kick when Murray cut into the penalty area and appeared to be tripped, but the penalty appeals were waved away.

With five minutes remaining, Jess Horn’s through ball found Thomas, whose angled drive went agonisingly wide of the target.

As a result, Gillingham ran out 3-1 winners.

C&K Basildon were then condemned to a 5-3 defeat by a Plymouth Argyle side boasting former WSL 1 star Helen Bleazard.

It was Bleazard who opened the scoring midway through the first half with a fine volley from the edge of the penalty area.

Once again, C&K Basildon found themselves three goals down shortly after half-time, with Bleazard getting two of them.

However, Murray turned in Katie Whitehead’s cross at the far post to give C&K Basildon hope of staging a comeback.

But Plymouth extended their lead with another goal before Patricia Gimenez pounced on a defensive error to reduce the deficit.

Plymouth then scored another from the penalty spot before Gimenez once again took advantage of a defensive mistake to round the goalkeeper for her second goal of the match, but C&K Basildon returned with no points to show for their efforts.
