STAFF at Maldon District Council have been nominated for a regional award.

The NHS Mid Essex Commissioning Group’s Marvels of Mid Awards which are being held on Thursday features nominations in three categories.

Simon Walker and Jim Brunt are nominated for the Be Well Award for the Walking Football initiative.

Chris Rust, Ben Page and Maldon and District CVS are nominated for the Age Well Award for the Four Ts project.

Chris Rust is also being nominated for a separate Connect Well Award for the Council’s Connect Well Champions.

Councillor Bob Boyce said: “Our staff work hard on initiatives which support the community, so it is nice for them to see their hard work and dedication recognised.

“I wish everyone the best of luck in the awards which highlight some of the great work being undertaken in Mid Essex.”

Volunteering director Sarah Troop Laskar added: “The nominations are a recognition of the strength of the community within our District.

“We are very pleased that this community work is being recognised and keen to work more over the next twelve months to enhance and develop activities.”

CCG Chairman Dr Caroline Dollery said: “With the NHS turning 70 this year, this is a great opportunity to celebrate the outstanding contributions of local people and organisations who are making a difference in supporting local people to Live Well.”

Almost 100 nominations were received this year.
