A YOUNG Bollywood dancer looks set for stardom, aged just 11.

Mirava Vekaria, from Canvey, who specialises in Bollywood dancing has already achieved great things – and is now looking forward to her next challenges.

The talented performer has danced for some high profile people, including the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Damodardas Modi, in London.

She has also competed in TV talent contest Britain’s Got Talent, came second in the Great Big School Dance competition in 2015 and was awarded First Indian Soloist in the Teen Star contest earlier this year.

She entered Britain’s Got Talent in 2014, 2015 and 2016, but unfortunately did not make it to the competition rounds on TV.

She performed for the Indian PM in April.

Her mum, Shilpa Vekaria, 41, said the family is so proud of the young performer.

She said: “She started dancing at the age of just six-years-old and she really loves it. It takes a lot of hard work and she has to fit it in around her school work.

“She dances a lot during the weekends and after school in the evenings.

“We also have keen artists in the family, so this sort of thing is in our blood.

“Mirava really enjoys the dancing so much, and as her mum I am so happy for her.

“She is always so keen to do well and has achieved so much at such a young age.

“Mirava is hoping for a future career in Bollywood dancing.

“She has worked with the Honey’s Dance Academy in Ilford and will be working with the KZ Dance School in London very soon.”

Mrs Vekaria said the whole family is so proud of the young dancer.

She said her daughter loves the competitions and costumes, and said some of her outfits are made in India and America.

The perfomer is now preparing to compete in the International Indian Icon competition in Chicago in November.

Mrs Vekaria said her daughter is very excited about this.

It will see her compete for the title of British Indian Icon, and then the international award.

The dancer can perform more than ten styles of dance such as whacking, kathack, popping, locking, cramping and many more.

She found out earlier this year that she had passed the audition for the international competition, known as India’s second biggest competition.

Mirava has also competed in various public speaking competitions.

The dancer has now become a pupil at Cornelius Vermuyden on Canvey.

The school has also recognised her achievements.

A spokesman said: “At Cornelius Vermuyden School we are equally proud of all of our talented individuals. We are delighted to have Mirava Vekaria who has recently joined Year 7.”
