A serious crash has resulted in a major road being completely shut by the emergency services.

The A127 between junction 29 of M25 and the A128 for Halfway House happened shortly before 1pm today (Sunday, September 29).

The crash is believed to have involved a lorry and a car.

Witnesses claim that firefighters are working to free a person who is trapped in a car.

Injuries are not known at this time.

The road remains shut in the eastbound direction with queueing traffic for three miles back to the A128 junction.

The traffic will affect any driver heading towards the M25 or Romford along the A127.

There are also queues along the A127 westbound , although this is believed to be related to this incident and traffic is moving slowly.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time to their journey and to avoid the area if possible.

We will bring you more information when it becomes available.
