Armed police have swooped to a town centre road after reports surfaced of a gun incident.
The officers have been spotted in Southchurch Road, Southend, near the Frankie and Bennies restaurant.
There are at least five armed officers at the scene and residents reported seeing a person on the floor and a patient being treated by paramedics.
Essex Police have been contacted.
