Police and paramedics rushed to Grays amidst reports of a drive by shooting last night.

The shooting was reported to have taken place in Hathaway Road.

Residents reported seeing police helicopters flying above the area, with search lights on at around 9pm.

Essex Police confirmed they were no signs of a shooting after searching the area last night.

A spokesman for Essex Police, said: "We received a call at around 8.30pm yesterday, Saturday October 13, about a loud noise coming from a vehicle in Hathaway Road, Grays.

"The caller was concerned that the occupants may have been in possession of a firearm.

"We carried out an extensive search in the area to locate the vehicle described without success.

"We also searched for any evidence that a firearm had been discharged and there was no damage to properties, no victims or any additional calls.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Grays police station on 101 quoting incident 1407 of 13/10 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
