FAMILIES enjoyed pumpkin picking during the tenth year of special Halloween events at Watch House Farm.

The Pumpkin Patch event was held at the farm in Wash Road, Laindon, as part of a month of open events.

The event is free and the farm will be open every weekend this month as well as on Friday, October 19, from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The farm will also be opening its pumpkin patch throughout the half term from October 22 to October 26.

A spokesman for Foxes Farm Produce, who hosted the event, said: “We have been growing and harvesting pumpkins for more than ten years now and then one day we thought why not open the farm up and let our customers pick their own perfect pumpkin directly from the field?

“So that is what we did.

“We have thousands of pumpkins for you to choose from and lots of different varieties of squash and pumpkin too.

“To keep up with demand for all our wonderful pumpkin pickers, we sometimes have to replace the field with ready picked pumpkins from our other fields.

“You simply turn up, pick your pumpkin from the field and then pay our helpful staff once you have chosen.”

The pumpkin patch will be open between 10am and 4pm each weekend.
