Rayleigh High Street was closed last night while the fire service rescued an injured person.
Witnesses reported seeing police, fire and ambulance crews at the High Street.
Firefighters are currently at the scene of an incident in #Rayleigh assisting @EEAST with rescuing a patient from a building with difficult access. The High Street has been temporarily shut to traffic while we continue to work with our colleagues. Thank you for your patience.

It is unclear what had happened at this stage, but the fire service said it was helping to rescue a patient from a building with difficult access.
There are suggestions that someone has suffered a heart attack while in the church tower at Holy Trinity Church, but this is currently unconfirmed.
Rayleigh is on lock down after something has happened at the Church at the top of the high street.
