A 13-year-old boy was splashed with an unknown substance during an altercation.
A 48-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were in a car parked outside a parade of shops in Ashingdon Road, Rochford, sometime between 11.20am and 11.50am on Tuesday, November 6.
The man was involved in a verbal altercation with two men who were standing outside.
One of the men threw an unknown substance at the car, which splashed the boy.
He was not injured and enquiries are ongoing.
Witnesses are asked to call Southend CID on 101 quoting reference 42/162061/18.
