RENOWNED actor, comedian and producer Steve Coogan has been spotted filming in Basildon. Residents have taken to social media after spotting the famous face in the town centre.

Basildon's new escape room, Escape Basildon, took to Facebook to express its delight at Mr Coogan using their escape room as a dressing room.

Rumours have suggested he could be filming an upcoming satirical movie about the super rich - which will also star David Mitchell.

Coogan will play ‘a ruthless, perma-tanned and self-absorbed retail clothing billionaire’ possibly based on former BhS chief Philip Green.

Escape Room Basildon's Facebook post said: "What an exciting day!

"Escape basildon has turned into a film studio!

"Steve Coogan is shooting his new film in the shop opposite us and is currently using our escape rooms as his dressing rooms."
