Police were called with reports of a stabbing in Westcliff on Thursday, November 8.
Officers and paramedics arrived on Hamlet Court Road and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim suffered a stab wound to the lower back which required three stitches.
A cordon of police tape was put in place around the Best One shop at the corner of Wenham Drive and West Road while police carried out their enquiries.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Southend CID on 101, quoting incident 727 of November 8.
