A BASILDON woman has completed her first marathon in New York.
Anastasia Lyne, of Basildon, was thrilled to complete the iconic race in three hours and 51 minutes.
She ran through the five boroughs of New York: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Manhattan.
The Loughborough University student was raising money for The National Autistic Society and has so far raised £1,500, just short of her target of £1,800.
Anastasia, 21, said she was “genuinely happy” during the run.
She added: “No way am I saying it was a walk in the park but I was doing what I love, in my favourite city in the world, with the most incredible crowd going – it would be rude not to smile.”
“I have already got post-marathon blues and looking for what race I can do next.”
