Residents are being warned of people knocking door to door who may be linked to burglary gangs.
The Castle Point and Rochford Community Policing Team is warning people to be cautious of those knocking on the door selling things.
A post from the team reads: "We have had reports of ‘Nottingham knockers’ in the #Rayleigh #Hockley area (door to door salesmen). Please note each of these individuals must have pedlars license issued by local authority, if they haven’t & they sell you something on your doorstep they commit an offence.
"Nottingham Knockers have also been linked to burglary gangs, so if they come to your door, give 101 a call."
