A TOWN COUNCIL held a beach clean event.
Councillors, officers, residents and a scout group took part in the Great British Beach Clean on Canvey.
The national initiative takes part over the second weekend in September and was created by the Marine Conservation Society.
Canvey Town Council chose to get involved for the second year to help clear an important and well used area of the island.
Volunteers collected more than 20 bags of rubbish, mainly consisting of household waste and litter.
The team of 21 volunteers started at Concord Beach tidal pool and worked all along the sea wall to the yacht club at the point, as well as in the other direction as far as Thorney Bay Beach.
The town council would like to thank all those who volunteered to help at the event, in particular 1st Hadleigh Scout Group and residents.
