A woman has been left distraught after claims Currys PC World "lost" her 60 inch television and is refusing to replace it or reimburse her.

Patricia Johnson, 67, of Seaview Drive, in Great Wakering, sent her TV off for repair on November 7 and was told it would be delivered to her by November 13, but after calling Currys to track down the TV's whereabouts, she was passed from pillar to post before eventually being told it had been misplaced.

Mrs Johnson says she "has had nothing but problems" with the £1,500 LG TV since she bought it from Currys' Basildon store 18 months ago.

She said: "I have been in tears over this, I am at my wits end.

"When I called Currys on November 13, I was told it was in the holding bay and that it hadn't come back to workshop, and that they were waiting but it wasn't there.

"I have had nothing but problems with the TV since I bought it 18 months ago. Nine months after I bought it, I had to have it repaired by Currys, two men came to my house and fitted two new components which fixed it but I have still had problem after problem with it.

"I have even considered going into the store and laying down in there and not moving until I get my telly back.

"I'm that desperate."

Mrs Johnson has now been left with a large, unsightly gap on her wall where the TV was hung, and now fears she will be without a TV for Christmas.

The TV is still under five year extended warranty but she claims that has made no difference at all, as Currys has told her they cannot offer her a reimbursement or replacement.

Mrs Johnson added: "Every time I speak to someone I am getting a different response, I am worried I won't have a telly for Christmas and there is now a great big hole on our wall.

"Currys KnowHow team, who are in essence their help desk, said they cannot put me through to a manger or anyone at head office, and refuse to give me a new telly even though I have a five year extended warranty.

"They then said I could be waiting a month.

"Well I am not willing to wait a month for my telly I've had enough of playing hide and seek.

"They think because I'm 67 I'm stupid, well I'm not."

Since being contacted by The Echo, a spokesperson for Currys has confirmed Mrs Johnson has now been offered a voucher.

A Currys spokesperson, said: “We are very sorry to Mrs Johnson for her experience. We’re investigating what happened in this instance.

"We have agreed to provide Mrs Johnson with a voucher, so she can purchase a brand-new replacement which she has accepted."
