CHILDREN were treated to an interactive reading session in Southend.

Katharine Pond, also known as Katharine the Reading Champion, held one of her KP Life sessions at The Gleneagles Guest House.

The ToddlerRhyme sessions see young children sharing stories, songs and poems together and interacting with each other using props such as boxes and parachutes to create a unique approach to storytelling.

The session held on Tuesday saw around ten children attend.

Katharine said: “It was a very lovely session. I’m really focused on being interactive and hands on with the young toddlers, I learnt that through my time working for libraries. Young kids are taking so much in. They can absorb so much through interaction.

“Every child develops at their own pace and noticing how they engage with me, my props and books is key to connecting with them. I am continuously adapting how I interact with each child.”
