An elderly man who collapsed in Southend High Street with a head injury had to wait about two hours for an ambulance.
Shoppers spotted the elderly man on the floor and reported he suffered a head injury at about 10.30am today.
Witnesses reported he was heavily bleeding from his head.
One shopper heavily criticised the ambulance service.
He said: "That's absolutely awful he waited that long in the rain and cold.
"I want answers for this guy its not fair.
"I think it's disgusting- where are the ambulances."
The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
