Concerns have been raised an elderly woman who was involved in a hit and run may lose her leg.

An 88 year-old woman was hit by a vehicle, believed to be motorbike in Long Road, near to Craven Avenue and Denham Road, shortly before 9.30pm.

The motorbike failed to stop at the scene.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Inspector Rob Brettell, from the Serious Collision Investigtion Unit, said: “This was a serious collision and the woman involved could lose her leg.

“It is shocking that someone could leave the area, not even stopping to check on the injured woman.

“It is a busy road at a busy time of night and I believe someone must have seen something.

“I need anyone who saw or heard anything or has CCTV or dash cam footage to come forward.

“I also need to speak to anyone who may have seen a motorbike with damage on it shortly after the incident.”
