A COMMUNITY has rallied to help track down a man who has been missing since before Christmas.

Jack Morrad, 28, was last seen leaving Colors nightclub in Basildon, and walking towards nearby Gloucester park at about 2.30am last Sunday.

He was wearing a blue Christmas jumper, a red Santa hat, pale blue jeans and white trainers.

As concern for his welfare continues to grow, about 30 people gathered in the Gloucester park area to help search for an possible traces on Friday morning.

Police and Essex Search and Rescue were also seen searching the lakes in the park.

On Saturday, West Ham season ticket holder Mr Morrad went to watch the team play, before heading to the Beehive Pub in Basildon and then went next door to the Colors nightclub.

Friends have so far raised £4,390 via a fundraising page to pay for a missing person appeal.

The money is being used to pay for promoted posts across social media to boost the profile of the missing persons appeal and maximise the number of people who see it.

The page say Mr Morrad’s “mum and family are devastated and we need to find him”.

A spokesman from Essex Police’s Community Policing Team in Basildon has shared advice for people who are hoping to help find Jack after confusion surfaced regarding how best to help.

It said: “At the moment, we are reviewing CCTV and house to house enquiries to review the best places to search. Once that is done we can look at the public supporting our search efforts.

“We don’t want to turn anyone down but we also want to focus everyone’s efforts in the right places.

"We ask people living in the area around Gloucester Park, Basildon, to check any CCTV cameras they have for any footage of Jack.

"We also ask if they can check their gardens and sheds for any signs that someone may have taken shelter there. Please call 101 with any information."
