A MAN has been charged with a string of robberies and assaults in Basildon.
Scott Marchant, 32, of Kenneth Road, Basildon, was arrested on Monday January 7.
He has been charged with four counts of robbery between December 7 and 24, an attempted robbery on January 4, three counts of possession of a knife in a public place between December 18 and January 7, and going equipped for theft on January 7.
Marchant was also charged with four counts of assault following incidents on December 24 and January 3.
He is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court today.
Three of the robberies took place at Harvey & Thompson in Market Pavement on December 7, 21 and 24, and the fourth was at McColl’s newsagents in Clay Hill Road on December 18.
