SOUTHEND'S own Rachel Riley told politician George Galloway to f*** off during a Twitter spat over alleged anti-Semitism in the Labour Party.

The Countdown star has found herself embroiled in an ongoing anti-Semitism row during which she has criticised Jeremy Corbyn and others in the Labour party.

Left-winger Mr Galloway, who was also a member of the Respect Party, claimed Ms Riley was "slandering" the party.

She responded bluntly via Twitter: "F*** off George Galloway".

The former Southend High School pupil, then went on to strongly criticise Mr Galloway.

Ms Riley, who is Jewish, has received backing from celebrity pals such as Stephen Fry and Nick Hewer, who all Tweeted messages of support.

Left-wing comedic icon, Stephen Fry, who has had his own qualms with Galloway when they appeared on Celebrity Big Brother together, tweeted: "I stand with you, Rachel x".

Channel 4's Krishnan Guru-Murthy will feature Ms Riley on his Ways to Change the World podcast this week, where she will highlights her views on anti-Semitism and speak out about the treatment she has suffered on social media.
